Akufo Addo is not in control of affairs - Asiedu Nketia

Asiedu Nketia has described the confiscation of properties by NPP supporters as unlawful. Asiedu Nketia has described the confiscation of properties by NPP supporters as unlawful.

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has launched a scathing attack on the Akufo-Addo- led government of not being in control of affairs over the seizure of vehicles and properties in the country.

The National Organiser of NDC Kofi Adams’ vehicles were seized on Wednesday in his absence.

Mr Nketia wondered why security operatives claim they are unaware of turn of events adding that they are supposed to be abreast with information pertaining to security.

An incensed NDC General Secretary described as totally unacceptable for supporters of NPP to unlawfully confiscate properties belonging to NDC members.

He said Mr Adams’ position as NDC Organiser doesn’t make him less of a Ghanaian or cannot have rights to own properties.

‘And it even worse people in power claim to be true practitioners of democracy behaving in this manner, come on. They are completely lawless, absolutely lawless, organising people to be killing innocent citizens, what is that. If the security operatives are claiming they have not assigned people to seize properties, its a very lame excuse, that makes it even worse, because it means Nana Addo’s government is not in control of what is happening in the country. Either the security operatives are not in control or lying about issues,’ he fumed.

Speaking on Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he debunked allegations that NDC gurus and former appointees are hoarding State vehicles in their homes.

He called on supporters of NPP confiscating state installations and properties to act democratically and desist from taking the laws into their own hands.

‘We are in a democratic country and if somebody thinks that another person is hoarding State properties, there are democratic ways of going about it, so that government property is restored to the appropriate place. So impunity and vandalism and so on I think belong to the past. The election is not about changing people but parties so if you suspect someone, let the State use the appropriate channel to collect the vehicles, you don’t just jump into anybody’s house to seize his/her properties just because he is a party functionary, this is total violation of properties,’ he pointed out.
