President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been accused of over trumpeting the free Senior High School making it appear as though, it is the solution to the many problems the country is faced with.

Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj Newspaper, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu said it is now a cliché used by elements within the government including ministers of state each time the citizenry raise concerns about problems bedeviling the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Speaking on Adom TV, he wondered why the Akufo-Addo led government is trying hard to use that in shelving the grievances of Ghanaians who are uncomfortable with certain decisions that are not ameliorating their suffering likening it to drug sellers in the past.

“Everything the NPP is doing now is cosmetic, no laws are working in Ghana any longer and politics has been imbibed in everything. Akufo-Addo and Bawumia have become like medicine sellers of old times, regardless of which sickness you complain of, they always recommend the same drug; APC. Akufo-Addo and Bawumia are behaving similarly, whatever complaints you make about the economy; they refer you to free SHS. Everything nowadays is Free SHS as if Free SHS is a solution to all Ghana’s problems. It’s not even one-hundredth of Ghana’s challenges. But they are using Free SHS as cover up for all their failures” he said.

The free SHS was implemented in September this year with over 400,000 beneficiaries from various Junior High Schools in the country who for the first time attended school without paying fees.

Government indicates it intends to continue the policy until all Senior High School students are enrolled into public institutions without paying for the cost as it was seen in time past.

But Alhaji Bature however observed that the NPP government because the policy was a campaign promise, is doing all it can to make it realistic in the midst of the unending challenges coupled with inadequate dormitory accommodation.

‘The unnecessary noise’ about the only policy they have to a large extent, been able to pull through with since their coming into power; the Free SHS Policy President Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr. Bawumia are capitalizing on the realization of their flagship policy to cover up their numerous flaws”, he alleged .
