Goal King race gather's momentum

The race for the goal king title in the rather intriguing premiere league is getting heated. So far, four players have scored five goals apiece. First it was Liberty's front man Ernest Papa Arko who endeared himself into the hearts of football followers with splendid and immaculate goalscoring instincts. But his wonderful performance took a nosedive giving way to other of his colleagues in the league to catch-up with him.

One player whose performances has been sterling and ineffable since professional league got underway some years ago is Hearts of Oak’s mercurial Charles Taylor who has really surprised everybody including himself with five goals. Charles Taylor has consolidated his position asan untouchable player-maker in the Hearts set up.

The Hearts skipper has however not assured fans of laying claim on the position which for some years has beenthe preserve of former Hearts star, Ishmael Addo, now of Bastia. His immediate concern is to clinch this season's diadem. Also in contention for the goalking is Amui Quaye of Olympics and Frank Awuah of Goldfields.

Those with four goals each include Starlets 99 prodigy Bernard Don Bortey also of Hearts, King Faisal’sAbubakar Yahuzu and Maxxbees enterprising forward Masudu Mumuni. With three goals, Nana Frempong of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, though with old legs, has shown to all and sundrythat he can be relied upon for efficacy.

Sharing the same spot with him is his team captain, Godwin Ablordey.The rest are Frank Osei, Stephen Oduro all of Kotoko, Eric Adu Poku, Arsenal, Osei Bonsu of Okwahu United,Raja Nurudeen Power F/C and Hearts of Oak’s back-to-battan Kenneth Sarpong. Fifteen players have scored two goals each whilst thirty have a goal each.
