Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has lambasted the immediate past electoral commissioner, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, for disqualifying her from contesting the 2012 elections.

According to her, the basis for her disqualification by the former EC boss was unprofessional and unethical.

Konadu Rawlings, who was the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Party (NDP), was disqualified from contesting the 2012 elections over the party’s inability to properly complete presidential candidature forms given by the EC.

The party subsequently went to court over the matter and obtained a ruling in their favor but could not participate in the polls.

Speaking to Accra-based Joy FM on Tuesday, the 31st December Womens’ Movement founder said the party was unfairly treated.

“The way he treated us was unprofessional and unethical. He shouldn’t have done that. Even the way he flipped our documents on TV was unacceptable, and that is why the court looked at the matter and said it was wrong and that we should have gone through,” she told host Nhyira Addo on the Super Morning show.

She also disclosed that she is not the founder of the NDP as has been speculated over the years.

" I did not found the NDP. In fact, I had traveled and when I returned I was told that a new political party had been formed. I listened to their objectives, and they sounded different from all the rest that existed already, so I decided to join".
