Stadium To Be Commercialized

The National Sports Council has decided to commercialize the various sports stadia around the country to generate funds. Plans are therefore far advanced by the council to rent out the various facilities to football clubs for use for a fee.

Speaking to JOYonline, the Acting Chief Executive of the National Sports Council, Brigadier George Brock, said the idea is to enable clubs take full responsibility of their matches.

This according to Brigadier Brock would erase the notion that Sports Council is standing in their way from realising their revenue targets.

The success of the new arrangement would depend on the ability of the various clubs to pay the rent charges.

Clubs would also be eligible to sell commercial rights to corporate entities for their billboards to be placed in the arena during matches.
