Acid victim goes blind

Henrietta Amoah, the seamstress whose fiancé allegedly poured a bucket of concentrated acid on her face a few weeks to their planned marriage, has become almost blind, DAILY GUIDE has gathered.

The victim, aged 30 and resident in Osu in Accra, is currently on admission at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and cannot raise the amount of money required for her to undergo surgery to save her sight.

A source who spoke to DAILY GUIDE on Thursday said Henrietta has her left eye badly damaged to an extent that she cannot see while the right eye has also developed some complications, making it difficult for her to see with it.

This paper carried the story in April under the headline, “Man Pours Acid on Lover.”

Richard Amu, father of the victim, confirmed the report that his daughter had become almost visually impaired.

He appealed to the public to help the family raise an amount of GH¢6,000 being demanded by the Korle-Bu hospital authorities as a deposit before the victim undergoes plastic surgery.

Henrietta Amoah and her fiancé, George Enu aka Junior, were on the verge of getting married when a misunderstanding ensued between them over suspected infidelity.

George Asare Enu, who has since gone into hiding, had bought some items which he was to use to engage Henrietta, which were being kept at the lady’s house.

George, however, suspected that the engagement items were about to be used by another man to engage Henrietta.

Apparently unable to bear the shock of the discovery, George was reported to have sneaked into the bathroom while Henrietta was taking her bath and poured the concentrated acid on her, after which he bolted.

Henrietta’s father has also appealed to the police to help arrest the fiancé, who was a worker at Impact, an advertising agency at Labone in Accra.
