Kankum Park Undergoes Repairs

The Kakum National Park, the nation?s leading tourist attraction, has undertaken a major rehabilitation of its canopy walkway, as part of its routine maintenance of the facility.

The project was in line with the objective of the Ghana Heritage Conservation Trust (GHCT), the overseers of the Park, to improve the environs and quality of the monuments and protected area under its care.

Some of the work done included the replacement of the six platforms along the walkway and the repair of the four bridges.

The entrance points to the walkway and the exists were also redesigned to make them more visitor-friendly.

In a chat with the paper, Mr F.D Cabbinah, the Programmes Manager of the GHCT, said the rehabilitation work was the third major one but that was the first time the platforms had been changed.

With other works remaining to be done, he said it could cost his outfit some ?200 million to complete the rehabilitation.
