Social activist, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has criticised the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Ghana Police Service over the arrest and subsequent detention of Kwame Baffoe otherwise known as Abronye.

Abronye has been remanded once again by the Accra Circuit Court for one week following his reappearance on Friday, September 12, 2025, after his arrest for misdemeanor and 'offensive conduct'.

Weighing in on the matter, Barker-Vormawor, said that the IGP and his team must be called to order.

“… End it! Someone needs to bring the IGP and his boys to order,” he wrote on Facebook on September 12, 2025.

He explained that the IGP should have pursued legal action in court against the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for his remarks, rather than the arrest and protracted detention of Abronye.

According to Barker-Vormawor, he has intelligence indicating that the government does not support Abronye’s prosecution by the police, adding that the action of the police is causing disaffection for the government.

“From what I have gathered so far, the government does not support the prosecution of Abronye. If the IGP thinks Abronye's comments are defamatory, he should go to court, like every citizen.

BREAKING: Abronye remanded again

“Using the police to settle personal insults, and now creating ridiculous visual imagery of Abronye (sic) as if he is some war criminal or Hannibal Lecter (a Hollywood cannibal serial killer movie character), is causing unnecessary attention and dis-affection for the government,” he added.
