WEEKLY PRICE ANALYSIS OF TRADES FROM MONDAY 18/08/97 - FRIDAY 22/08/97 (846TH - 848TH SESSIONS)

The GSE All share Index ended the week on yet another positive note by climbing 6.22 points to 414.62 mainly as a result of C505.00 gain made by SCB, ending the week at C5805.00.

Total volume of shares traded was lower, recording 114,470 shares, as compared to the previous week's 210,730 shares traded, Total bids recorded 14,530,510, while total offers recorded 1,501,570.

Ten equities experienced price change of these, only AGC experienced a deadline. AGC lost C600.00, ending the week at C21,100. All the others ABL., EIC, GCB, GGL, MLC, SCB, FML, MOGL and PTC, experienced price increases. The below, gives the details.

EQUITY PRICE CHANGE LAST PRICE (CEDIS) (CEDIS) ABL +3 655 AGC 600 21,100 ALW 0 1,300 CFAO 0 35 ETC +9 583 FML +5 390 GCB +10 680 HFC 0 165 KBL 0 840 MGL (0) 180 MLC +8 170 MOGL +1 6,000 PAF (-) 155 PTC +8 330 PZ ( ) 310 SCB +505 5,805 SPPC (-) 100 SSB 0 1,430 UNIL (-) 960 UTC-E 0 75 HFC A 0 $102

AGC's loss, is attributed to the fall in it's price at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). AGC ended the week in New York at $10.28 a further decline of $0.00.

ABL gained C3.00, ending the week at C655.00. EIC gained C11.00 to end at C583.00. FML gained C5.00, to end at C390.00. GCB still gained another C10.00, ending at C680.00. GGL also gained C5.00 to end at C370.00. MLC gained C8.00 to end at C170.00. MOGL gained C1.00 to end at C6000.00. PTC gained C8.00 to end at C330.00, while SCB gained C505.00, to end at C5805.00.

The price of gold declined by $6.70 to end the week at $321.80. This decline in gold prices in London, directly affects AGC shares. If this trend should continue, then it's likely AGC share prices will fall, since they are directly related.

Most gains made by the equities can be attributed to excess bids over offers. This is an indication of investor confidence in shares traded on the OSE. As already expressed in last week's analyses; some of the equities like SCB gave very good half year results hence the upward gains in prices.

All gainers are expected to either maintain their gains, or increase it further. Others like UTC and SSB, that maintained their prices are expected to either still maintain their prices, or go higher.

GGL, ABL, ALW, ELC, GCB, KBL, PTC, SCB and UTC are tipped to be gainers in the coming week. The exchange is predicted to be exciting this coming week, since shareholders will not give out their shares cheaply, with the hunt going. Prices will surely shoot up.
