President's Press Secretary To Testify At NRC

Mr. Kwabena Agyepong the press secretary to the President, will on Wednesday, February 4, appear at the old parliament house office of the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC).

Agyepong is expected to give evidence on behalf of his mother and siblings concerning the kidnap and murder of his father, Justice G.A Agyepong some 21 years ago. His father together with Justice Poku Sarkordie, Mrs. Justice Cecilia Koranteng- Addow, and a retired army Major Sam Acquah, were abducted and killed on the night of June 30, 1982, and their corpse set on fire.

Their half-burnt bodies were found on the military range at Bundase near the Kpone Barrier on the Accra Plains.

Kwabena Agyepong is expected to shed light on how his father together with Justice Sarkodie, Mrs. Justice Koranteng-Addow were purposefully selected and set up to die. He is also expected to ask for a re-opening of the case, which has dogged the Rawlings and his men since it happened.

Four persons were executed for their involvement in the murder but the fifth suspect Lance Corporal Samuel Amedeka fled and has been in exile since.

Kwabena Agyepong has insisted that Rawlings knows something about those murders. He was then the chairman of the Provisional National Defence Council, which ruled Ghana for almost twenty years.
