The measure announced earlier by the traditional leader aims to address escalating cases of livestock theft in the area, with several animal owners reporting losses of sheep, goats, and cattle, some linked to a suspected theft syndicate.

According to a citinewsroom.com report, the Youth Chief of Damongo, Mbonwura Lukman Salifu Soldier, in an interview on September 20, 2025, confirmed the arrest and revealed that the traditional authority acts on reports of residents flouting the ban.

“Upon hearing the information, Damongowura Boresah Kelly Seidu I sent a delegation through me to confirm the slaughtering of a cow in an individual’s residence in Damongo,” he explained.
