Dutch Embassy Gives 10.8 million cedis To Farmers Society

Pwalugu (U/E), Sept. 1, - The Netherlands Embassy in Ghana has granted 10.8 million cedis to the Zuarungu Co-operative Farmers Society to enable them to improve production. The association will produce early maturing and high-yielding maize and cowpea seeds for small-holder farmers in the Bolgatanga district. Mr Joseph Aboyah, Project Manager of the Society, made this known when he accompanied members of the Society's management board to inspect an eight-hectare and two-hectare maize and cowpea farms in Pwalugu and Zuarungu respectively. He commended the Seed Inspection Unit of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for giving them technical assistance. An agricultural extension officer of the Unit, Mr Francis Amoah, urged the members to embrace improved farming practices to sustain farmlands.
