A leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Ali Suraj, has criticized the Hajj Board over what he describes as the poor organization of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
In a social media post, Alhaji Suraj described the challenges surrounding the 2025 Hajj as a reflection of incompetent and substandard leadership.
Focusing on the incredible story of a pilgrim who was declared dead by the Board but later returned to Ghana alive, Alhaji Suraj condemned the mishap and inconsistency exhibited by the Hajj Board, describing it as a failure that must not be tolerated.
He raised several questions about the incident, demanding accountability from the Board and, by extension, the government.
Alhaji Suraj urged the government to come clean on the matter and provide a clear explanation to the family of the woman and the Ghanaian public.
He opined that the incident had caused massive embarrassment to the country.

I came across a video circulating on various social media platforms regarding the alleged death of a woman, Fatima Kassim, who embarked on the Hajj pilgrimage this year, subjecting her family members to a traumatic experience over time.
I know for certain that pilgrims' passports are collected immediately after they land in Jeddah. Therefore, we need an explanation from the Hajj Task Force regarding the following:
How did they arrive at the decision that Hajia Fatimatu Kassim is dead?
Who verified her identity and confirmed her death?
Who is the Head of the Hajj Medical Team that supervised her burial?
Who prepared her death certificate for the burial?
What role did her agent (if any) play in this process?
What role did the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Jeddah Consulate, play in the burial process?
After her burial and the issuance of a death certificate, how did she travel to Ghana?
Who at the Consulate in Jeddah facilitated her travel documents to Ghana?
Which document did she use to travel to Ghana?
Has the Foreign Ministry or Hajj Task Force informed the Saudi authorities that Hajia Fatimatu Kassim, for whom a death certificate was issued, has seemingly "risen again," as some Christians believe Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) did?
The Ghana Embassy in Saudi Arabia, the Hajj Task Force, and the Foreign Ministry must clarify what truly transpired.
We cannot accept the statement from the former Member of Parliament for Madina and a member of the Task Force, Amadu Bukari Sorogho, that it was a case of "mistaken identity."
