Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the incumbent General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said he warned the party several times about certain things that he foresaw could be detrimental to the party’s re-election bid in the 2016 general elections but was ignored.

Mr Nketia, who is running for re-election made the comment ahead of the party’s Saturday, 16 November National Delegates’ Congress scheduled to take place at the Fantasy Dome of the International Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

He is facing competition from his deputy, Mr Koku Anyidoho.

Mr Asiedu Nketia told Kwabena Prah Jnr. (The Don) on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM Friday, 16 November that: “I will lead the party to kick out the NPP out of government in the 2020 elections because of the experience I have in party organisation.”

When his attention was drawn to the fact that he led the NDC into opposition in the 2016 elections, he said: “I warned the party several times but no one listened to me. We can all attest to this fact.”

Responding to claims that he is a dictator within the NDC, he said: “I am not a dictator in the party. Ask those who are saying that to point out one decision the party has taken which I have single-handedly rejected.

“What happens is that because of my experience, most of my suggestions are taken into consideration and accepted, and, so, if that is what people are describing as a dictatorship, then it beats my imagination”.
