Ghanaian journalist-turned-politician Captain Smart has become a topic of discussion on social media after a video surfaced showing him and the Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Richard Gyan-Mensah, exchanging what appeared to be an awkward handshake.

In the video, which is making waves on X and was sighted by GhanaWeb on August 16, 2026, Captain Smart was seen exchanging pleasantries with several individuals at an event.

In the less-than-one-minute clip, the broadcaster was observed tapping the shoulders of people after shaking their hands.

However, after greeting several attendees in that manner, Captain Smart appeared to attempt the same gesture when he shook hands with Richard Gyan-Mensah.

The NPP MP, however, was seen swatting Captain Smart's hand away, seemingly preventing him from tapping his shoulder.
