Two teachers of Techiman Senior High School have been arrested by the Bono East Regional Police Command following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing them assaulting a 17-year-old male student.
The teachers, identified as 37-year-old English teacher Jerry Jones Owusu Bekoe and 44-year-old ICT teacher Ameyaw Adusa, were arrested on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
According to a police statement, preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred on October 23, 2026, at about 4:00 pm, when the two teachers allegedly confronted the Form Three student on the school's premises and assaulted him.
The teachers are alleged to have accused the student of assaulting two Form One students, a claim that reportedly led to the confrontation.
The incident has attracted public attention following the circulation of the video on social media, prompting police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
The Bono East Regional Police Command has also indicated that steps are being taken to ensure the affected student receives the necessary medical and psychological support.
Reassuring the public of its commitment to student safety, the Command said it remained committed to the welfare and protection of all students.
The arrest of the two teachers comes amid renewed concerns about the treatment of students in educational institutions and the appropriate procedures for handling disciplinary issues in schools.
Police investigations are ongoing.
