Acting Head of Health Training Institutions, Tony Goodman, has issued a stern warning to nursing trainees against using their uniforms to create TikTok videos, cautioning that such conduct could lead to their removal from school.

He issued the warning in Takoradi, stressing the need for trainees to uphold the dignity and professionalism associated with the nursing profession.

He cautioned students against engaging in activities on social media that could undermine the image of the profession, urging them to take their training seriously.

“Watch social media now, and if we see you as a student using uniforms to be doing those TikTok videos, we will find a way of removing you from the school,” he said.

Goodman said the decision was necessary to protect the reputation of the nursing profession and ensure that trainees understood the responsibility that came with their chosen career.

He added that the current generation of health professionals had a duty to uphold professional standards for the benefit of those who would follow.

“Otherwise, the generations that will come after us will say these people, they didn't do anything, and that is not what we want to hear,” he stated.

Goodman also warned male educators against sexual harassment and the exploitation of female trainees, urging them to adhere strictly to the ethics and code of conduct of the profession.

He expressed concern about incidents involving trainees, noting that such conduct had generated dissatisfaction among parents who entrusted their children to the institutions for training.

“We didn't send our children to you to train them and after training it is a serious matter in the public sense. People are not happy with us. Parents are not happy,” he said.

“There are some currently we are dealing with and we are not finished. Please, you cannot be training and be damaging,” Goodman added.

He urged educators to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and ensure that training institutions remained safe environments for students.

The warnings form part of efforts to promote discipline, ethical conduct and professionalism among nursing trainees and their tutors.
