The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has reported himself to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
His decision follows an arrest warrant issued against him by the Accra High Court.
Another NPP MP named in EOCO investigation amid warrant to arrest Baffour Awuah
An earlier report by GhanaWeb indicated that the court granted the warrant after lawyers for the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) applied for it on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
EOCO, through its lawyers, told the court that its officers had exhausted reasonable means of securing Baffour Awuah’s voluntary appearance in connection with an ongoing investigation.
The office also argued that an arrest was necessary over concerns that documents relevant to the investigation could be concealed, altered or destroyed. It subsequently sought a warrant to search for and seize relevant documents, which the court reportedly granted.
The investigation is reportedly linked to Baffour Awuah’s previous representation of SIC Life Insurance Limited in a legal case, before he became a Member of Parliament.
Speaking in an interview with Accra FM on Monday, September 28, 2026, Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo shared what he said were details of evidence gathered by EOCO against his colleague.
According to Baidoo, Baffour Awuah represented SIC Life in a case involving Equity Micro-Finance after the company allegedly failed to repay a GH₵6 million loan.
Baidoo claimed that SIC Life paid Baffour Awuah GH₵280,000 for the case and that the court later ruled in favour of the state-owned company, ordering the sale of a property belonging to the microfinance company.
He said the property was valued at about GH₵25 million and that a court-appointed auctioneer had already found a buyer when another company, Eco Swiss, claimed that Equity Micro-Finance had previously sold the property to it.
According to Baidoo, the ownership dispute was taken back to court, but Baffour Awuah later negotiated a settlement on behalf of SIC Life before the court could determine the rightful owner of the property.
“All of a sudden, another company called Eco Swiss came into the frame claiming that Equity Micro Finance had sold the said property (a land) to them long ago… The matter went to court, and before the court could even determine the true owner of the land, Baffour Awuah went to settle the matter of the state entity. As we speak, this is no board decision which permitted him to do that,” Baidoo said.
Baidoo further alleged that documents from EOCO showed that Baffour Awuah received payments from all three companies involved in the matter — SIC Life, Eco Swiss and Equity Micro-Finance — despite representing SIC Life.
He claimed that Baffour Awuah negotiated a settlement with Eco Swiss for GH₵5 million over the loan, whose principal was GH₵6 million.
Baidoo also alleged that Eco Swiss subsequently paid Baffour Awuah GH₵2.2 million.

“After this, Eco Swiss gave Baffour Awuah GH¢2.2 million. What was this for? You were not their lawyer… All of these are from EOCO documents. As if this was not enough, the people from Equity also gave him over GH¢600,000,” he said.
The Akwatia MP further alleged that the then Managing Director of SIC Life Insurance, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, received GH₵1 million from Baffour Awuah and his law firm.
