The Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Abena Osei-Asare, has praised the acting Rent Commissioner for his work, describing him as an “action man”.
The Atiwa East Member of Parliament made the remarks when the acting Rent Commissioner, Frederick Opoku, appeared before the Committee on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Welcoming him before the committee, Osei-Asare commented on his visibility and activities in the rent sector.

“You are an action man. You’ve recovered GH¢43,000,” she said.
The remarks come amid the recent aggressive enforcement efforts by the Rent Control Department as it steps up enforcement of existing laws, including the six-month limit on rent advance payments and the requirement for landlords and tenants to use official Rent Cards.
The department has also warned property agents against charging tenants illegal double commissions, with the law providing for a 5% commission payable by landlords.
