The incident occurred after military personnel reportedly tried to push journalists and bloggers away from the demolition site.

Videos that went viral on social media showed a military officer hitting the blogger with what appeared to be a rod and shouting at him.

Speaking on the issue and sighted by GhanaWeb on October 7, 2026, Dwumfuor said the GJA expects the military to provide a full account of the incident and indicate what action has been taken against any personnel found responsible.

“We are given an ultimatum to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) 14 days, two weeks from the day of this (sic), to provide a clear and comprehensive account of the investigation into this incident as well as the specific disciplinary or other actions taken against any personnel found responsible.

“The Association expects the Minister of the Interior, the National Security Coordinator and the Chief of Defence Staff to ensure that this (sic) is met and that the outcome is communicated properly,” he demanded.

The demolition exercise was carried out by a joint team of soldiers and police personnel at La Beach.
