Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has stated that the government expects all 8,000 newly recruited health workers to begin work by July, 2026, as final placement processes near completion.
He indicated that the minister said the Ministry is pushing to complete administrative procedures and ensure a smooth rollout of the recruits into the health system.
“I don’t want to give a specific date, but at the latest, I think by July we should be done with it. We are looking at them starting work in July,” he stated.

Akandoh added that the Ministry will soon publish the full list of recruits and their interview locations to improve transparency and address public concerns over postings.
“We are going to publish all the names and where they’ll be going for their interviews,” he said.
He further noted that priority will be given to rural and underserved communities as part of efforts to close staffing gaps in the health sector and improve service delivery nationwide.
