Hearts lose to Mvoyle

Accra Hearts of Oak lost 0-1 to Olympic Mvoyle of Cameroun in their African Cup Winner's Cup played in Yaounde. The game is the first leg of the one-eighth stage of the competition and Hearts have everything to fight for in the return match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday 21st May, 1995.

The only goal of the game came in the 54th minute when, following a cornerkick by Olympic Mvolye, two of their forward players conspicuously held goalkeeper Abukari Kankani, keeping him rooted tot he ground while overlapping defender Mimboe Tobie headed in across the line. The referee turned a blind-eye to the infringement and whistled for a goal.

Though it was a sad goal, Hearts have themselves to blame for not making use of the many chances that came their way. The return match could go either way and Hearts will do well to provide answers to the defensive lapses which Olympic Mvoyle revealed so glaringly.
