Tennis: Immigration wins Knockout competition

The Ghana Immigration team over the weekend was crowned champions in the 2015 Ghana Table Tennis Association knockout competition held at the D.J Hathramani Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The immigration men team defeated Ghana Revenue Authority by 3-0 in the grand finale after an impressive display from both sides in the preliminaries.

Top seeds, Derrick Abrefa, Felix Lartey, and Emmanuel Asante from the immigration were tough customers for their opponents in the grand finale.

Organizers of the knockout competitions were impressed with the level of competition displayed by the 9 teams that took part in the just ended competition.

Though the Immigration team won the competition, top seed, Derrick Abrefa was not impressed with the play and wants to improve on his game ahead of future competitions.

“I will say we did well but I was not where I want to be, maybe because this is the first competition of the year and that is why”. Derrick Abrefa told Sportscrusader.com.

“But as time goes on, I will make amends and train with the rest of the team for better performance”.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Army defeated Immigration 3-0 in the women division which was held simultaneously at the same venue.
