Kofi Asare wins Patron's Sponsored Tournament

Koforidua, Dec. 21, GNA - Kofi Asare beat Sammy Appiah 9-7 to win the trophy in the Top Division of the 14th Edition of the Annual Patron's Sponsored Tournament of the Koforidua Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday.

To reach the finals, Asare defeated Kwesi Aheiali 9-3 in the first semi-final match while Appiah beat Emmanuel Afful 9-4 in the second semi-final match played earlier in the week.

Seth Boadi beat Frank Sefa 9-4 in the finals to become the champion of Group One, Social Division.

In the semi-finals, Boadi was leading V. G. Obeng 8-1 when Obeng scratched while Sefa walked over Enoch Acheampong who failed to turn up. Adusah Poku beat Charles Ampomah 9-5 in Group Two of the Socials Division to become the champion of that division.

To reach the finals, Poku beat Alex Adamson 9-5 while Ampomah beat Professor Anoff 9-6.

In the Veteran's Division, W. O. Lamptey beat M. A. Siaw 9-5 to become the new champion of the division.

Lamptey defeated Frank Simpson 7-5 after a tiebreak in the semi final match while Siaw walked over Kweku Asare.
