Ghanaian table tennis player leaves for World championship

Accra, Sept, 4, GNA - A Ghanaian cadet table tennis player from Koforidua Secondary Technical School, Master Samuel Akayade has left for a training tour to Egypt and China ahead of the World Cadet Challenge to be held in Stockholm, Sweden from 28th October - 2nd November this year. Akayade gained selection into the African Cadet team amongst three other players from Egypt and Tunisia during the African Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship held in Egypt from 4th - 12th April this year. During the African Championship, Akayade again won bronze medal with his Cadet team mate, Master Isaac Davies from Cape Coast Jubilee School, a last minute substitute for Emmanuel Asante whose passport was delayed.

A press release issued by the Secretary General of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, Kwame Amponfi Junior copied to GNA Sports said through its intervention, the player had an invitation from the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) to join his other colleague African Cadet team members in Egypt for the training tour in China from 1st - 22nd September before his participation in the ITTF World Cadet Challenge in Stockholm, Sweden from 28th October - 2nd November, 2008. He said the Association is grateful to the National Sports Council for the prompt support for Akayade's successful participation in the World Cadet Championship. 04 Sept. 08
