GCB win Independence Day Tennis Gala

Accra, March 6, GNA-Ghana Commercial Bank Limited (GCB) defeated Bank of Ghana (BoG) 6-4 in the finals to win this year's Financial Institutions Tennis Association (FINTAS) Independence Day Gala Championship played at the Courts of the Ghana Tennis Association in Accra on Friday. The game, which was started on a fast note, saw GCB, who were represented by Emmanuel Addison and Daniel Haruna frustrating their opponents with dangerous services.

BoG's team of Emmauel Addison and Rockshell Benbella came into the picture but could not stand the might, of GCBH as they were succumbed at the end of the competition. On their way to the finals, GCB edged out State Insurance Company of Ghana Limited (SIC) 6-0, while BoG eliminated Metropolitan Insurance Company (MET) 7-6. Eight institutions took part in the one-day event which was sponsored by MTN and FINTAS.

Other institutions are Ecobank Ghana Limited, Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Databank Ghana and SG-SSB Bank. Mr Patrick Kingsley Nyinah, Executive Director of Databank Brokerage Limited, who presented, the trophy to the winners, called on the participants to take active interest in sports to enable them remain healthy at all times. Mr Harold Sackey, a Representative of MTN said the company would continue to offer support for the association as part of their corporate social responsibilities.
