EIGHT national tennis stars have been invited by the Ghana Tennis Association (GTA) for the nation’s Davis Cup tie against Slovenia.

Ghana will meet the Eastern European country in their Zone Two Davis Cup encounter at the Accra Stadium tennis courts from April 4 to 6.

Five of the players who are foreign-based are expected in the country by this weekend.

Mr C. K. Atta, Secretary-General of the GTA, named the foreign-based stars as George Buckman and Gunther Darkey, both based in the U.K., Salifu Mohammed, Samuel Fumi and Daniel Omaboe, all based in the U. S.

Out of the number, five will be selected to form the Golden Rackets to do battle for the nation.

They will be joined for a pre-tournament training by Kwasi Ahenkora, Frederick Egyir and Patrick Nortey who are all locally-based.

The two nations will be vying for a place in the second round of the Zone Two Davis Cup competition.

When they met the last time, the Slovenians defeated the Ghanaians 3-2 at the same venue.
