Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan scored on his return to action but his Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG lost 2-1 at home to Jiangsu Sunning on Saturday.

Gyan replaced Ivorian Jean Kouassi on 59 minutes and he grabbed the equalizer three minutes later after Ramires had given the visitors the lead in the 20th minute.

The 30-year-old controlled Wang Shenchao’s long cross from the right with his chest before slamming home with precision from inside the box.

Gyan has now scored three goals in seven league appearances this season; having missed five matches due to injuries.
