Ghana's opponent Rwanda beat Ethiopia 3-1

Ahead of a crucial Afcon qualifying game in Kigali, Ghana’s opponent, Rwanda beat Ethiopia 3-1 in a friendly game on Friday at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali to send a warning signal to the West African giants.

Rwanda will host Ghana in a 2017 Afcon Qualifier on 6th September 2015 and as part of their preparations, the coach of the East African side, Jonny Mckinstry tested his side’s readiness ahead of the next weekend clash.

In the game Rwanda dominated and opened the scoring in the 18th minute via Ernest Sugira’s powerful header after a wonderful cross by the Haruna Niyonzima.

However, the Ethiopians never got deflated, and they started to push for the equalizer which they had in the 41st minute through Baye Gezagn as the first half ended 1-1.

From the recess, the Amavubi’s came with a different strategy and they restored their lead in the 65th minute thanks to a fantastic header from Jacques Tuyisenge, before 8minutes later Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza put the game beyond the reach of the Ethiopians with another fine header as the game ended 3-1.

Ghana will also engage in a friendly game with Congo Brazzaville on September 1 before emplaning to Rwanda for the biggest clash in Group H in the 2017 Afcon Qualifiers.
