GFA congress amends regulations

The annual congress of the Ghana Football Association ended on Wednesday at the hospitality centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The two-day congress, which saw a number of amendments to a number of regulations of the association, also had majority of the regulations maintained.

Among the amended regulations, is the one on player contract, which generated a lot of heat. The initial clause (7) under the article 28, which gave clubs no room to appeal or protest against the ruling of an arbitration committees arising out of any contract was amended.

As a results clubs would be entitled to both protest and appeal where and when relevant.

The congress realigned most of the regulations of the association and resolved to review the functions of the disciplinary, appeal and review committees. The article on player transfer was also among regulations considered.

Another high-ranking regulation amended was the stay of execution act. According to the amendments decisions taken by disciplinary committees would still be pending even if clubs decide to appeals against it.

On the constitution and the status of the association, the congress realigned most of the articles under the section. It further sought to strengthen the regional executive council and the mode of selection of its members.
