Nothing wrong with Ayariga buying a Club - Nyantakyi

President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi has defended Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga’s acquisition of a football club.

Ayariga confirmed he bought the Division One club early this year to promote entertainment, youth development and sports in his constituency.

The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central argued that that even the FA president of the land owned a football club which does not violate any rules.

Nyantakyi also confirmed there was nothing wrong with the minister owning a football club.

“The minister is first of all a Ghanaian and there is no rule that prevents a Ghanaian from legally purchasing a football club,” Nyantakyi told Accra-based Citi FM

“Remember also he is an opinion leader and represents a group of people so he understands the importance of sports and the powerful tool it is.

“I certainly do not see any conflict of interest anywhere.”
