GFA gives up on CAF

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has said it will not appeal against the decision of Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to disqualify the Black Starlets from the Niger 2015 Africa Under-17 Championship, which starts in February next year.

The decision by the GFA was taken at an Executive Committee meeting on Thursday and announced at a press conference later in the day.

GFA had the option to pursue the appeal of the ruling within 10 days at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

CAF’s suspension placed on Ghana was due to the fielding of an overage player Isaac Twum during an Africa Under-17 Championship qualifier against Cameroon.

“We have decided to let sleeping dogs rest… I must say though CAF have not been fair to us, we will to not pursue the case at the Court of Sports for Abitration,” Nyantakyi insisted.
