Former France captain of Ghanaian descent Marcel Desailly has applied for the vacant Vietnam coaching job after failing to land on the Malaysia one.
The 1998 World Cup winner has contacted the Vietnamese Federation, but is yet to receive a formal response with an official telling Reuters he is “unsuitable”.
“We consider very important criteria: working conditions, experience and reputation. We will take into consideration his candidacy and see if the conditions are suitable for us or not,” the secretary of the Federation Hoai Anh Le said.
"It's unlikely we would consider him as his conditions were unsuitable for this position."
Currently, Desailly works for French TV station Canal + as a football analyst.
