Ghanaians abroad: Bittersweet day for Ayews, Essien benched

FRANCE

Andre Ayew played 90 minutes for Marseille who were beaten 2-0 by PSG at Parc des Prince. Abdul Majeed Waris played full throttle as Valenciennes lost 1-3 away at Reims. John Boye played the entire game as Rennes lost 0-2 at home to Guingamp.

Jordan Ayew finally scored in the 70th minute after being introduced in the 68th minute for Sochaux who thrashed Bordeaux 2-0.

THE NETHERLANDS

Christian Atsu played 80 minutes and provided the assist for the first goal as Vitesse Arnhem beat Roda JC 3-0 at home. Elvis Manu played the full game and scored for Cambuur who drew 1-1 with Groningen. Johan Kapelhoff was also a full-timer for Groningen as Shadrach Eghan was an unused substitute for FC Twente who drew 1-1 with Utrecht.

SPAIN

Richmond Boakye-Yiadom came on in the 82nd minute as Elche beat Celta de Vigo 1-0 at home.

BELGIUM

Nana Kwesi Asare scored the equaliser and lasted 90 minutes as Gent beat struggling Sporting Charleroi 2-1 at home. Abraham Kudemor was on the Charleroi bench. Daniel Opare was an unused substitute for Standard Liege who lost 1-0 to Club Brugge. Ghanaian-born Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe played full time for Brugge. Jerry Vandam played full time for Mechelen who beat Lokeren 1-0. Youngster Eugene Ansah was an 86th minute substitute for the away side. Benard Kumordzi played the entire game for Genk who were beaten 2-0 by Anderlecht.

ENGLAND

Jo Kuffour was introduced in the 77th minute as Wycombe Wanderers drew 1-1 away at Southend United. Emmanuel Frimpong played 77 minutes as Barnsley were thrashed 5-0 away by Huddersfield Town.

Albert Adomah was substituted 13 minutes after the break as Middlesbrough lost 0-1 at Sheffield Wednesday. Jeffery Schlupp played the entire game as leaders Leicester City beat Charlton Athletic 3-0 at home.

GERMANY

In-form left-back Baba Abdul Rahman played full time and put up a man-of-the-match performance as his side Greuther Furth beat FSV Frankfurt 3-2. Phil Ofosu-Ayeh played the entire game as MSV Duisburg drew goalless with Wehen Wiesbaden at home.

Kevin-Prince Boateng lasted the entire game as Schalke 04 were hammered 5-1 by Bayer Munich at the Allianz Arena.

ITALY

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu was on the Udinese bench in their 3-0 defeat to Cagliari. Afriyie Acquah was introduced in the 68th minute as Parma beat Sassuolo 1-0. Chibsah Raman was a bench warmer for Sassuolo.

Alfred Duncan played the last eight minutes for Livorno who drew 1-1 with Napoli. Kwadwo Asamoah was a full-timer for Juventus whilst Michael Essien was an unused substitute for Milan in the titanic clash in San Siro where Juventus won 2-0.
