Women U-20 World Cup : Ghana face Canada in opening game

Ghana have been handed an opening match World Cup campaign for Canada 2014 while Nigeria and Mexico will face each other in Group C.

Bashiru Hayford's side were drawn in Group A along with host nation Canada (ranked No.8).

The nineteenth -ranked Ghanaians will also face North Korea (ranked No.4) and Finland (No.26) in the group stage.

"We didn't expect an easy group said Ghanaian U-20 coach Bashiru Hayford.Especially playing the host nation in the opening game. Its a tricky group.I think the Canadians will be too quick to treat the first as an easy victory for them.

All eyes will be on us.It will be a bit intimidating with that crowd. But we'll have supporters in Toronto.I know there is a Ghanaian population of about 60,000 in Toronto. They will galvanize and come support us.If we can win,our confidence will be built for subsequent games. We are going to play very well"

The Black Princesses of Ghana earned its spot in the U-20 World Cup by beating Equitorial Guinea 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 game in Malabo and Accra.
