Agyei shrugs off pressure at Free State Stars

Free State Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper Daniel Agyei said the team should not lose focus following the departure of head coach Steve Komphela.

Komphela parted ways with Stars after a 2-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs a fortnight ago, with long-serving assistant coach Themba Sithole promoted to steer the affairs till they find a permanent coach.

"For us as players we just have to concentrate on what we are employed to do which is to play football and help the club win games,” Agyei told KickOff. "When management makes a decision all that we can do is respect it because we know that it is for the best interests of the club."

"As players we are here to work under whoever the club decides to lead us. We will not allow ourselves to be distracted from the job at hand because Steve has left. For us we will maintain the focus and work towards delivering on what we are all employed to do"

"At the same time I wish Steve all the best because he is a good coach and I appreciate all that he has taught since I arrived at the club,” Agyei added.

Ea Lla Koto are 11th in the PSL standings with 12 points from 11 games - 11 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, and two points above the drop zone.
