Medeama settle on Essipong for CAF games

Medeama will play their 2014 CAF Confederation Cup home matches at the Essipong Stadium near Sekondi.

This means the Mauve and Yellows will embark on an hour drive from their Tarkwa-based to Sekondi.

“We decided on two stadia, the Accra sports stadium and Essipong stadium. The Essipong stadium is an international stadium so we have accepted to play our home games there,” Medeama Chief Executive James Essilfie said.

Medeama will be making their debut in the continent’s inter-clubs competition after winning the 2013 MTN Ghana FA Cup.

The Mauve and Yellows defeated Asante Kotoko 1-0 in the FA Cup final in June. Medeama have fortified their squad with five signings for the second round of the season.

The list includes returnee Jacob Apau, Michael Helegbe, Kofi Agyare, Samuel Adade and Benjamin Akuffo.
