I will like to finish my career in the local league – Waris

New Black Stars striker Abdul Majeed Waris says he would like to finish his football career in the local League.

Waris, who scored as Ghana thrashed Sudan 4-0 in a recent 2014 World Cup qualifier, told reporters that he has not monitored the local league very well, but believes that it could be improved.

“I have not watched many matches in the local league. I think our local league is good but could be improved. Football evolves every day and so things need to be added to improve the league from time to time,” he said.

The former Right to dream Academy graduate says because he has never played in the local league, he would like to end his career in the Premier League.

“I have never played in our local league before, so I would like to contribute when I am close to ending my career,” he added.

Waris now turns out for Russian Premier League club Spartak Moscow after topping the goal scorers’ chart in the Swedish top flight.
