GUSU congratulate stars

The Ghana United Supporters Union (GUSU) has sent a congratulatory message to the Black Stars after their impressive 4-0 win against Sudan in the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi.

In a statement signed by the acting GUSU communications director, Doreen Ayimbila, GUSU expressed their delight with the with the Black Stars output which has inched the team a step closer to qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The GUSU is made of tertiary education students, graduates and young professionals in Ghana and abroad. The statement was also was full of praise for the technical handlers led by Coach Kwasi Appiah:

‘’ We commend the coaching staff and management of the Black Stars for sitting up and putting the disappointment of the AFCON 2013 tournament behind them. The road ahead is long and there is still room for improvement in all departments of the team’’

Top of a long list of personalities and groups mentioned in their statement, GUSU heaped praise on the Asantehene Otumfu Osei Tutu II for his support, blessing and counseling before, during and after the match which galvanized the people of Kumasi to re-confirm that the Garden City is indeed the capital of football in Ghana.

GUSU applauded the various supporters groups that thronged the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with special mention for the powerful students group from the Continental Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Goals from Asamoah Gyan, Mubarak Wakasso, Abdul Majeed Waris and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu gave the Stars a well deserved 4-0 win taking them to within a point behind group leaders Zambia who drew 1-1 with Lesotho.

The GUSU statement concluded by thanking the GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi and Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah for the leadership and appealed to the government to work hand in hand with the football authorities to bring glory, honour and pride back into Ghana football.
