Nyarko Threatened With Disciplinary Action

Everton rebel Alex Nyarko - who quit football after being abused by a fan at Arsenal - has been threatened with disciplinary action after failing to report for training.

Ghana midfield man Nyarko was at the centre of controversy when he demanded to be substituted after he was confronted by an angry supporter during the 4-1 defeat at Highbury.

Everton boss Walter Smith and club officials wanted showdown talks with Nyarko to discuss his future - with his Goodison Park career effectively over after the weekend.

But he has gone missing and Everton are now attempting to track down the disgruntled star.

Everton Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations Ian Ross told BBC Sport Online: "We are attempting to arrange a meeting with Alex Nyarko.

"If this cannot be achieved within the next two or three days, the club will have to consider disciplinary action."

Nyarko has been a major disappointment since his arrived in a ?4.5m deal from Lens, and has grown increasingly unhappy at Everton.

And he said after his bust-up with the fan: "I'm finished with football. This man has done the same thing before.

"He came and offered me a black T-shirt for my blue one. So I have decided I am quitting football. I can't live my life like this.

"I can live without football and that is what I am going to do. I came to this club when I would have been better off joining another one.

"But I have had no problems with anybody at Everton and I have full respect for everyone.

"I have been happy with the way I have played and I don't upset anybody, but this is too much."

Nyarko's walk-out will only confirm Everton's decision that he must be off-loaded in the summer.
