Toppmoller close to Ghana job

Former Bayer Leverkusen and Georgia coach Klaus Toppmoller is pondering an offer to become Ghana boss.

According to a report in Germany's Bild newspaper, the African nation have approached Toppmoller on the advice of former Black Star Tony Yeboah, who played under the coach at Eintracht Frankfurt in the early nineties.

The Ghana Football Association are targeting qualification for the 2010 World Cup and believe the 56-year-old German is the man to lead their campagin.

"I received an offer a fortnight ago and it is really attractive," said Toppmoller.

"We could reach the World Cup in South Africa and that would be huge for the country and for me.

"We need to discuss minor details - not so much money."

After failing to qualify for Euro 2008 with Georgia, Toppmoller returned to Germany to assume an advisory role with second division side Kaiserslautern but he quit after only six weeks because of personal reasons.
