Birmingham goalkeeper Maik Taylor has offered his support to his berated Ghanaian team-mate Richard Kingson.

Taylor was left out of the Premier League game three weeks ago with Portsmouth by caretaker manager Eric Black who instead favoured Ghana?s first choice keeper.

Kingson proceeded to concede an embarrassing goal with an error from which Blues never recovered and since then the British media has been critical of the Ghanaian keeper.

Birmingham went on to lose 2-0 in a match that proved to be Black's only game in charge before he was replaced by Alex McLeish.

McLeish joined the club from Scotland and responded by hitting Kingson with the axe.

Kingson, who was signed in July from Turkish side Ankaraspor, has not even made the reserves since and Taylor sympathises with his team-mate.

"I have made mistakes myself, you have to feel for them when they happen to other goalkeepers," he said.

He added that he bore no ill will towards the 29-year-old.

"If I have a qualm it's not with Richard, it's with Blacky. Richard wanted to do very well so I wished him all the best and went and did the warm up with him," said Taylor.

"It's a terrible blow for him, you don't wish that on anyone. Being a goalkeeper is a lonely place at times - that was very difficult for Richard."
