Tagoe keeps Al Ittifaq in the hunt

Ghana under-23 striker Prince Tagoe scored two goals to ease Al Ittifaq to a 5-1 victory over a hapless Al Qadisiyah on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old is now joint top scorer with three goals in Saudi Arabia?s top league after three matches and keeps his club among the early pace setters.

Tagoe can move to the top of the scorers? chart if he scores in their two outstanding matches thanks to their participation in the Gulf Cup.

The Black Meteors striker led his team with an early onslaught on the visiting side but Al Qadisiyah keeper stood firm.

When the deadlock was finally broken after 28 minutes it came from defender Hassim, who was causing as many problems for the visitors down the right as Mohamemd Al Haysam was on the left.

The full-back cut inside and put in an inviting cross that an unmarked Tagoe beautifully directed into the bottom corner.

On the stroke of half time the pair almost combined for a second goal as Hassim, crossed but this time Tagoe?s strike hit the upright.

Al Ittifaq extended their lead with two quick goals in the second half before the visitors pulled one back.

But the Ghanaian striker netted the second with a wonderful strike from just outside the box before his team-mate sealed the comprehensive victory with two minutes remaining.
