Yegoala qualifies for Division One League

Kumasi, May 9, GNA - Kumasi-based Yegoala FC on Saturday displayed enough of tactical discipline to beat city rivals Lazio FC Kumasi 9-8 on penalties after the two settled for a 1-1 pulsating drawn game in their Division Two deciding match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The result has thus enabled Yegoala to qualify to participate in the Division One League with their supporters just after the final whistle going into jubilation.

The match was uncompromising as the two teams displayed tactical discipline but it was not until the 78th minute that Lazio who shot into the lead through Alfred Okine.

Yegoala accepted the challenge and mounted incessant pressure on Lazio and benefitted from their determination when Osman Yakubu latched unto a David Oppong's in-swinger to let go a thunderbolt of a shot which zoomed straight into the net for the equalizer on the stroke of full time. In the marathon penalty shoot-out, Yegoala scored nine out of 11 kicks whilst Lazio scored eight of their kicks.
