Cape Coast, Oct. 17 GNA - A classic goal scored by midfielder, Ernest Edu, in the 70th minute enabled Ebusua Dwarfs to draw 1-1 with local rivals, Venomous Vipers in their Division One zone 2B league match at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Sunday.

In a well attended match characterised by a 13 minute hold up following rowdyism that culminated in the throwing of missiles at the match officials by football fans, Accra base referee E.Q. Osam Quaye however managed to stamp his authority on the match to end the match peacefully. Right from the blast of the whistle it was Vipers who showed glimpses of carrying by stamping their authority on the game.

The attacking line up of Joseph Bentil, Frank Mensah, Walters Mensah and Francis Yankey disorganised the Dwarfs defence with a flowing combination that occasionally confused their opponents.

They kept Dwarfs vital area boiling and bombarded the area with shots from all angles.

And it came as no surprise when they scored the opener in the 27th minute when Yankey headed in the ballot the blind side of the keeper. The early goal gave Vipers the tonic to probe for more goals but the forwards squandered about four begging chances that came their way. Dwarfs, with their pride at stake threw everything into attack in the second half.

In the 67th minute, Vipers centre half, Sebastian Shika, was red carded for a second bookable offence.

Dwarfs capitalised on their numerical advantage and piled pressure on their opponents but it was until the 70th minute before Edu scored the much-needed equaliser.

After the equalising goal, supporters of Vipers apparently not satisfied with the performance of the referee threw missiles at the match officials.

Referee Quaye stopped the game and refused to continue with the officiating and the match was held up until, the Municipal Chief Executive of Cape Coast, Mr Muniru Arafat intervened for the match to be continued.
