Utrecht FC To Establish A Football Academy In Ghana

Utrecht FC of the Netherlands have expressed their intention of establishing a football academy in Cape Coast in Ghana in an attempt to unearth young talent in the area.

According to Jacob Anthony Aihoon, the trainer of third division club 'Be Just FC' in Cape Coast, he discussed the plans with the Utrecht chairman Van Doop, as well as the owner of the club Frans van Seumeren when he visited the Netherlands in September.

Aihoon told the Ghanaian Chronicler that the two figures made it known that the club had the intention of establishing two academies, one in Brazil and the other in Ghana..

He said two Ghanaian internationals, Francis Dicko and Nana Kwesi Asare, played for Utrecht, and this has made the club realise that Ghanaians are very talented.

Aihoon said his locally based club is taking inspiration from Gomoa Feteh Feynoord Academy, which has produced great talents such as Harrison Afful and national reserve goalkeeper William Amamoo, among others.
