U17 WC: Ghana plays Germany for Bronze

Seoul (SK), Sept. 6, GNA - The National U-17 team, Black Starlets face another herculean task as they come face-to-face again against Germany on Saturday to decide who carries the bronze medal in this year's U-17 World Cup competition in Korea.

The Starlets would also have to redeem their image by avoiding three defeats in this contest and also to avenge the 2-3 defeat they suffered at the hands of the Germans in the group stages of the tournament.

The Starlets exhibited their worse performance on Wednesday against Spain in the Ulsan Sports Complex and lost 1-2 to the disappointment of the fans, especially the Koreans who had lent their support to the team after host Korea was kicked out of the competition.

The defeat of the Starlets brings to two the team suffered in the competition, all in the hands of European teams and the question now is whether Sellas Tetteh and his boys would be able to redeem their image by winning the bronze come this Saturday, would depend on the strategies and determination they put up.

The team's key striker, Sadick Adams would miss the final match against Germany due to two yellow cards he received, a situation that would certainly weaken the team's striking force.

Ransford Osei, a leading scorer in the Starlets' side would have to improve on his performance if he is fielded against Germany since he failed to shine against Spain last Wednesday.

Some of the players the GNA Sports spoke to before departing from their Hyundai Hotel in Ulsan to Seoul expressed regret about Adams' absence in their final game on Sunday but expressed the hope that they would defeat their opponents to console themselves with the bronze medal.

The Starlets would meet Germany who lost 3-1 to Nigeria in their semi final match to play for the third place while Nigeria lock horns with Spain who earlier beat Ghana 2-1 to reach the finals.
