True Lies in Dakar by Abedi

FORMER Ghanaian football star Abedi Ayew Pele has said that he has no ambition to head the Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) for now. "I'm still young. President (John) Kufuor has asked me to lead the football association but I told him I'm still young and an older person should be appointed to head it. I prefer to remain behind", Abedi told PANA in Dakar last week, adding that he was a member of GFF's football orientation committee.
The former skipper of the Black Stars also expressed confidence in the future of Ghana's football despite the poor results in recent years. "We have now a young team that participated in the 2002 Nations Cup in Mali. Its performance was good and we are very satisfied. We will continue preparing it for the 2006 World Cup. We are actually doing a fine job and I think Ghana will soon regain its rightful place within African football," he added.
The former striker with French first division Olympique Marseille was in Dakar in the company of the FIFA president Joseph Blatter for a day's visit.
