Tottenham & Hertha Berlin Chase Bekoe

ONETOUCH Premier League Champions Asante Kotoko's free scoring goal poacher, Eric Bekoe is the most sought after home-based player after the Ghanaian soccer calendar officially came to an end last Sunday. Bekoe, who netted 17 times to clinch the goal-king gong, has been every opposing defender's nightmare this season as he sometimes almost single-handedly tore Premiership defences apart.

This has naturally led to a scramble for his signature as various agents continue to knock on his doors with mouth-watering transfer deals to prise him away to Europe. Bekoe could make his long awaited move to Europe if reports filtering in are anything to go by.

Reports pieced together by 90 Minutes indicates that both Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga and English Premiership outfit, Tottenham Hotspur have made their interest known to the player's agent. In an interview exclusively granted to 90 Minutes on the eve of Kotoko's departure last Monday to Libya to engage Al-Ittihad in the CAF Confederations Cup, Bekoe acknowledged the interest of the teams who are keen to sign him up. “My agent has told me of the teams who are willing to sign me and Hertha Berlin is one of them. Tottenham Hotspur have also expressed their interest even though nothing concrete is on the table. Spurs made their interest known when I played for the Black Stars against Mexico in a friendly match in London”. He continued “Everything depends on the management of Kotoko as I am aware that I can only leave when the price is right.” Bekoe however denied reports making rounds that some French teams are also closely on his heels. “At the moment I have no knowledge of any French teams but I've been informed of an interest from a team in Spain”

Eric Bekoe leads the assault of Asante Kotoko's charge against the might of Libya's most successful club, Al Ittihad in the on-going CAF Confederation Cup competition on Friday. The Onetouch Premier League goal king remains confident ahead of the clash and is poised to help Kotoko register their first away win in the competition. He said: “Now the Ghana league is over, we have now switched our attention to the Confederation Cup. It was a delightful moment when we won the President's Cup against Heart of Lions. The smile on the faces of our supporters is something that we cherish and will do anything to bring such wonderful moments back to the Porcupine family again. We will go the extra mile and possibly net our first away win in the competition and hopefully, I will net a goal”. On his remarkable goal scoring spree that made him the 2007/08 Premiership top scorer, he added: “It was all down to the faith I had in God. During the season, there were times that I was on a scoring spree and then came moments when it became difficult to get a goal since it was evident that most of the teams were not playing football. But with faith, I've been crowned the goal king”. When pressed as to whether he will don the red jersey again next season, he gave a soft smile and added: “Kotoko will only sell me for the right price so let's see if we can get the right buyer”
