This year’s edition of the annual Tigo Community Soccer fiesta commences
next Saturday, January 25 when it goes to the Northern Region capital,
Tamale for the first time ever where the 2014 opening leg concludes the
following day, Sunday January 26 before extending to Sunyani the following
weekend, 1st and 2nd February, 2014.

Tigo Community Soccer is an 18-stop community football and fun event which
is designed to increase the healthy rivalry and bond among communities. It
is played over a two day period in a knockout format. This is the third
edition but the first time its going to Northern Ghana.

16 community teams consisting of 15 players and two coaches each of who
must buy one Tigo sim and purchase GH?2 credit onto the sim after which
each team will spend GH? 51 for registration. Tigo will then give each team
a set of 15 jerseys with hoes. As well, the community winner takes home
cash prize and medals, runner up gets cash prize and silver medals and of
course bragging rights in the community.

Exhibiting professional standards, Tigo Community Soccer uses division one
league referees, there are commentators for matches in each community,
videos everywhere for television and bring communities to light with
scintillating soccer action.

In the event, this year’s itinerary continues after Sunyani at Sefwi (8th &
9th Feb), Mampong (15th & 16th Feb), Konongo (22nd & 23rd Feb), Kumasi
(1st& 2nd March), Tarkwa (8th&9th March), Sekondi (15th&16th March), Cape
Coast (22nd& 23rd March), Swedru (29th & 30th March), Aflao (5th&6th
April), Kwahu (12th&13th April), Ashaiman (19th&20th April), Madina (26th&
27th April), Lapaz (3rd& 4th May), Dansoman (10th& 11th May), Teshie (17th&
18th May) and Mamprobi (24th & 25th May).

All community winners on the 18-leg tour will converge in Accra on 30th May
to take part in the Tigo Community Champion of Champions Cup at Mantse
Agbonaa, James Town from 31st May to 1st June, 2014.
